New Netflix Documentary On Vince McMahon Amid Serious Allegations

Netflix is set to release a new documentary series about the former WWE CEO and chairman Vince McMahon, titled Mr. McMahon (2024). This series will delve into his controversial reign over WWE, highlighting serious allegations that have emerged against him. Among these are accusations of sexual assault and human trafficking made by former WWE employee Janel Grant.

Following these allegations, Grant has filed a lawsuit against McMahon, and the federal government is currently investigating the matter. This investigation has caused delays in her lawsuit, as both legal and criminal proceedings unfold. Although Grant is expected to be an integral part of the final episode of the series, she was not directly involved in the documentary's production.

Today, representatives of Janel Grant, including her lawyer Ann Callis and Kendra Barkoff Lamy of PR firm SKDK, held a media briefing ahead of the docuseries' release date on September 25, 2024. Callis emphasized the importance of Janel's story, stating, "Her experience is integral to an accurate and full retelling of the story of the WWE and Mr. McMahon." They hope the documentary will shed light on McMahon's alleged abusive behavior.

Despite not participating in the docuseries, Grant's legal team expressed their desire for it to accurately portray her as a survivor rather than a mere storyline character in the WWE narrative. "She's a victim and a survivor. She is not a WWE storyline," Callis responded when asked about the portrayal of Grant in the media.

As the investigation continues, both Grant and her legal representatives have not yet seen the docuseries and remain uncertain about the status of the federal investigation. Callis expressed a wish for any charges to be resolved quickly to allow Grant to pursue her civil suit. "The only thing we know for sure is there is an active, ongoing, non-public criminal investigation," she stated, emphasizing that they want the process to be thorough rather than rushed.
