Gruesome crime scene photos of the two teenage girls murdered in Delphi, Indiana, garnered gasps from family and jury members on Monday. The trial of Richard Allen, accused of killing 13-year-old Abigail Williams and 14-year-old Liberty "Libby" German in 2017, is unfolding this week. He faces multiple charges, including two counts of murder and two counts of felony murder related to their tragic deaths.

On February 13, 2017, a relative dropped the eighth graders off at a hiking trail, but they never returned home. After five long years, police arrested Allen, who had been working at a CVS in Delphi. It’s heart-wrenching to note that the families of the victims reported that Allen even assisted them in printing photos for the girls' funeral at no cost.

Darren Giancola, the first official on the scene and a Carroll County sheriff's deputy, provided emotional testimony on Monday. He recalled the devastating sight of one teen clothed and the other’s body uncovered in the wooded area where they had set off for a hike just the day before.

Giancola expressed that he did not attempt any life-saving measures, as both teenagers were already deceased upon his arrival. He described the scene, stating, "Both had large lacerations on their throat. They both had a substantial amount of blood on their person and underneath." This vivid testimony underscored the chilling reality of the crime, leaving many in the courtroom visibly shaken.

During the trial, Jason Page from the Indiana State Police crime scene investigation unit also took the stand. He presented photos he captured of the crime scene, which included the gruesome details of the slashed throats and bloodied faces of the two girls.

The emotional weight of the evidence was palpable, as family members of both girls reacted with audible gasps to the displayed images. Reports indicate that many in the courtroom found it difficult to look at the brutal photos. German's mother was seen crying, while her younger sister turned away, and their grandparents held hands for support.
