Reflecting on their unexpected marriage, Teresa later admitted, "Most likely we wouldn’t have married if I hadn’t been pregnant, but we did, and it was a big deal." They welcomed their second child, Kyle, in August 1991, but the couple ultimately separated after seven years of marriage in 1996. Teresa pointed to Todd's desire for control as a major factor in their relationship troubles.

According to Teresa, Todd needed everything to be "picture-perfect," which put immense pressure on her as a mother of two young children. She recalled, "I had two small kids, but at home, everything had to be picture-perfect; your hair always had to be fixed, and you had to be dressed to the 10s." This constant demand for perfection contributed to the strain on their marriage, leading to its eventual collapse.
