Even if you don’t live in the south end of the city, St. Vital Park is a great place to spend a summer day. If you are not sure what to do while you are there, we have compiled a list of the best things to do in St. Vital Park this summer.
Hang out with the wildlife
The duck pond is a great place to stop during your day at the park. You can sit and relax on a bench and observe the daily lives of the many geese and ducks. You can also walk the path along the edge of the pond to get the full view of everything that goes on in the small habitat.
Walk the forest trails
There are many trails in the forest at St. Vital Park, and they are very peaceful and scenic to walk. If you are planning to do just that, you will need to be equipped with bug spray because the mosquitoes are especially annoying in the shaded area. There is even a ‘fitness trail’ with various obstacles along the way if you are trying to get even more out of your hike!
Sports in the park
If you are athletically inclined there are definitely facilities for you at St. Vital Park. There is a beach volleyball court in the field that is usually in good shape to play a little game. There is also a massive field for soccer, ultimate, football, tag or whatever game you are interested in playing.
St. Vital Park is usually not a very busy park, especially during the day in the summer so it is a really good place to go to just chill and soak in some Vitamin D. You can spread a blanket out on the field for a picnic or hang out on a bench facing the river for a lovely view.
Revisit Your Childhood
Who said there was an age limit on playgrounds? The playground at St. Vital Park is pretty big, and is complete with swings, a spider web and multiple bridges and slides.
