As many may know, Manitoba is filled with many swamps and marshes. Here’s proof.
Well, for the time being, Shrek is renting one of our best swamps. In his spare time, he’s performing at the Rainbow Stage! Shrek the Musical is both amusing and heart warming, and it is the perfect show for any age. In case you didn’t have a childhood and don’t know what Shrek is, the musical is based on the animated film Shrek, a movie about an ogre who is sent by a king to rescue a beautiful princess who is locked in a tower. Classic.
While at the Rainbow stage, we had the opportunity to be volunteers and get the behind the scenes of what happens before a show! First thing you do is get assigned to a job, such as selling souvenirs, selling 50/50 tickets, or being an usher. As an usher, you get to help people find there seats before the show, then sit back and watch the wonderful performance. When you are selling 50/50 tickets it is your responsibility to drive sales and collect cash from your customers. It is important to mix up the order of the tickets so all of the tickets are random. When selling souvenirs, you get probably the only chance you’ll ever have to yell in the hallways without getting in trouble. You get to shout “T-Shirts, souvenirs, programs!”, and get to sell a wide variety of things to the people enjoying the show!
Volunteers are always needed, so go to the website to find details on how you can become a volunteer for your favourite theatre!
