Hey there! It’s August 31st and that means Summer is, unfortunately, starting to end. We are extremely grateful to have had the help and support from Travel Manitoba our followers, interviewees, and even strangers we met while out and about.
We’ve been on many fantastic adventures this summer and, hopefully, we’ve exposed you to some of the great things to do in this province.
Here’s what a few of us have learned this summer:
I have learned and experienced so much since working at Get Out of The Basement. I am no longer afraid to approach and interview strangers or voice my opinion. I’ve also become pretty creative, which is kind of new.
Everyone here brings many fantastic qualities to the table and we fit together perfectly as a team.
Not only have I grown as an individual from this job, but I’ve also learned so much about my city and my province. Before working here I was guilty of spending a lot of my time holed up in the basement thinking that there was nothing to do here.
Boy was I wrong.
I had so much fun as a Get Out of The Basement Adventurer. The best part was learning how to use Adobe Premiere and the Sony XDCAM EX.
There were a few things that surprised me through the summer. Like, just how many things there are to do in Manitoba.
I think it’s important of me to get out and do things instead of sitting in the basement.
My experience with the GOOTB team has been an incredible one. Two months ago I looked at the city through eyes that didn’t see how great it was to live here.
I’ve learned that you don’t need to travel much farther than your backyard to have the best summer ever.
At the beginning of the summer I wasn’t very comfortable in front of the camera. Seven weeks later I found myself hosting a segment on Shaw TV.
This job has made me even prouder to be from Winnipeg.
Get Out Of The Basement was, for me, a very valuable learning experience that I will always carry with me. I’ve experienced what it’s like to work in a large group and collaborate with others to create the best content possible.
I don’t think I’ve ever been part of a group that has gotten along so well and been so supportive of one another. This has probably been my favourite summer so far.
